Gideon

“This was the first time that we had ever heard of CMV, despite the fact that I am a medical school professor.”

We were ecstatic when we learned we were expecting our second child. We went to all the appointments together. We did everything we were told to do for a healthy pregnancy.

After Gideon was born, he developed jaundice and a rash all over his body. He was rushed to the newborn nursery and diagnosed with cCMV. This was the first time that we had ever heard of CMV, despite the fact that I am a medical school professor.

 Today, Gideon has many diagnoses, therapists, and doctors, but the only thing infectious about him is his laugh! cCMV has changed the path that Gideon rolls on, but not the value that he brings to this world.
