Kaleb

When I first learned about CMV, doctors told me that he wasn’t expected to survive.

When I first learned about CMV, doctors told me that he wasn’t expected to survive. For his birth, 20 family members spanning five generations came to the hospital for the delivery. When I heard him cry, my heart just melted. I was happy and sad at the same time.

For his whole life, Kaleb was surrounded with love. His grandmother hand-made him physical therapy mats and colorful quilts, and everyone – family, doctors, therapists, and teachers – provided the resources for him to do the best that he can.

Kaleb was 7 when he passed away on March 1, 2020. It’s not your first thought to think ‘we’ll pull through this,’ but palliative and hospice care is what gave me hope.
