“I was very upset - if CMV is so common, why I was never told anything about it?  ”

When I got sick during my pregnancy, my doctor thought it might be the flu and told me to rest. After Michaiah was born, the doctors ran tests and told me that he had CMV. They also told me that CMV is common. I was very upset - if CMV is so common, why I was never told anything about it?  

It was a very hard time for us right after he was born. There were so many doctor visits. We found out that he was blind and microcephalic but had to wait to see what else might be affected. 

Michaiah is now 17 years old and has overcome many challenges. He always has a smile on his face! Michaiah has taught us patience, empathy, and to be grateful for each and every day.
